Every photo is backed by our MemoryCherish Love It or Your Money Back Guarantee.

3 easy steps to restore your photos

  1. 01

Take a picture of your photo, right at your kitchen table

Use your phone or a scanner. Either works. Your original never leaves your hands. (Prefer to mail it in? You can. Tracked and insured, and we send it back free.) Then choose your options and pay securely.

  2. 02

Our restoration experts work their magic

A real artist, not a program, sits down with your photo. They mend the tears and lift the stains, and they’ll add true-to-life color if you’d like. Most photos, honestly, take us about 4 careful hours.

  3. 03

Get it back and approve it before it’s final

Your restored photo arrives by email in a few days (24-hour rush available). Nothing is final until you say so. Free revisions until it looks exactly like you remember. Then, if you’d like, we’ll print it museum quality, ready to frame.

Remember when your town had a photo shop?

Someone behind the counter knew your name. You’d bring in a torn print of your mother, and a week later it came back in a paper envelope, mended, because the person who fixed it actually cared how it turned out.

Most of those counters are gone now. The drugstores shut their photo restoration desks. What replaced them are apps that run your mother’s face through a computer and hand you back a stranger.

We started MemoryCherish to bring the counter back. Real artists, all of them here in America, with 37+ years of combined experience between them. They restore photos one at a time, by hand, and they don’t call one finished until it looks exactly the way you remember. The only difference from the old counter is that you don’t have to drive, and the envelope arrives by email in a couple of days.

The MemoryCherish family

Keep your family’s memories in the family

Get your restored photos back and hang them where people will see them. Give the next generation a chance to:

  • Relive some happy episodes of your childhood
  • Feel the joy your parents felt on their wedding day
  • Show your grandchildren the house their great-grandparents moved into

A single photograph can mean a lot. Pictures are more than paper. They remind us of a time we felt happy and loved. We work on each one by hand until it looks the way it did on the hallway wall, and if you’d like, we’ll print it so it can hang there again.

A heartfelt “Thank You!” to the folks at Memory Cherish for the great job they did restoring my precious photo! It was a color snapshot of my late husband and me taken outdoors in 1976 during our engagement celebration. The Kodak 110 Instamatic Pocket Camera leaked light distorting half of the photo which included my husband’s image. The entire snapshot had also discolored with age. Memory Cherish replied to my inquiries most courteously and promptly, and my questions and requests were resolved to my complete satisfaction. (FYI - I used their middle tier of service.) When I initially submitted the photo to be restored, I should have sent them other photos taken of the same people at the same event to assist the artist, but I did not realize until I requested a revision that it was possible do this. I will certainly use Memory Cherish again if I have another photo to restore!

Frequently asked questions

Can a torn wedding photo be repaired?

Yes. Tears and creases are some of the most common damage we fix, including photos torn completely in two. Our artists rebuild the tear lines by hand so the repair doesn't show. Even a photo that was taped back together years ago can usually be made whole again.

Our wedding photos are stuck in an old album. What should we do?

Don't peel them out. Forcing a stuck print can tear the image right off. Leave the photo in the album and take a clear picture of it with your phone. That's enough for our artists to work from, and the original stays safe where it is.

Can you colorize my parents' black-and-white wedding photo?

Yes. Our artists add color by hand, carefully and faithfully, so the couple still looks exactly like themselves. It's one of our most loved anniversary gifts. If you're not sure, you can restore the photo in black and white first and decide about color afterward.

Can you fix the orange tint on our 1970s wedding photos?

Yes. That orange or reddish cast is very common in prints from the 1960s and 1970s, and our artists correct it by hand, bringing back natural skin tones and true colors. Fading and color shift are everyday work for us.

How long does wedding photo restoration take?

The first proof usually arrives in 1 to 3 days. If an anniversary or a party is close, a 24-hour rush is available at checkout. Tell us the date and we'll treat it as a promise. You also get free revisions until it looks right to you.

Do I have to mail in our only copy?

No. Most people photograph the print with a phone and upload that, so the original never leaves your hands. If you prefer mail-in, photos go to our scanning lab in New Jersey, tracked both ways, scanned within 24 hours of arrival, and returned free.

How much does it cost to restore a wedding photo?

Prices start at $38 and depend only on the artist tier you choose, never on how damaged the photo is. A badly water-stained album photo costs the same as a lightly faded one at the same tier. Local studios often charge $50–$500.

Can we get prints of the restored wedding photo?

Yes. Prints and enlargements are available as add-ons, and they ship within 24 hours after you approve the restoration. They make an easy extra gift for children and grandchildren.

Where can I get old photos restored?

Right here, from your kitchen table. There’s no shop to drive to anymore (most drugstore photo counters are gone): you take a picture of your photo with your phone, upload it, and our American artists restore it by hand within a few days. If you’d rather talk to a person first, call +1 (307) 218-6920.

Who restores old photos?

Real restoration artists do. At MemoryCherish, only humans ever touch your photo. Our artists have 37+ years of combined experience and have restored photos for museums, historical societies, and hundreds of thousands of families. You can meet the team on our Who We Are page.

Does Walgreens restore old photos?

Not anymore. Walgreens discontinued its photo restoration service in 2024, and most drugstore photo counters are gone. MemoryCherish is where those customers come now: restoration done by hand by American artists, from $38, delivered in a few days, with no store visit needed. Read our full Walgreens comparison here.

Can a photo that’s torn, faded, or water-damaged really be restored?

Almost always, yes. Even photos other services turned away. Tears, creases, water stains, fading, mold, fire damage, photos stuck to glass, photos in pieces: our artists restore them all by hand. And in the rare case a photo just can’t be saved, we’ll tell you honestly and you won’t pay anything.

What is photo restoration?

Photo restoration is repairing an old or damaged photo so it looks the way it did the day it was taken. Fading, tears, creases, water stains, mold, missing pieces: our artists mend all of it by hand, matching the original tones and detail. The goal is never to change the photo, only to bring back what time and damage took away, so the people in it look exactly like the people you remember.

Can I trust MemoryCherish?

Take a look at our before and after gallery and judge for yourself. Our artists have 37+ years of combined restoration experience, and they've restored photos for museums and historical societies. We'll take good care of your photos and work on them until they look the way you remember. And if you don't love the result, you get every cent back.

What degree of “damaged” can MemoryCherish handle?

Any of it, honestly. Scratches, fire damage, fading, mold, creases. Even a photo that's in pieces and blurry. Our artists repair any type of damage by hand and send your photographs back looking the way you remember them. See our before & after gallery.

How much does it cost to restore a photo?

Restoration starts at $38 per photo. You choose one of three artist levels — Experienced Artist at $38, Head Artist at $58, or Senior Artist at $148 — and the price never depends on how damaged the photo is: a torn photo costs the same as an easy one at the same level. Free revisions and your digital files are always included, and nothing is ever added after. You’ll see your full total on the order form before you pay a cent, and the three artist levels are laid out on our Why choose us page.

Can old, damaged photos be restored?

Yes. Our restoration artists bring old, damaged photos back by hand, and they've seen just about everything. Blurry faces, bad color, photos that sat in a damp basement for thirty years. See what thousands of families say in their reviews, and why they come back to us with the rest of the shoebox.

Can faded photos be restored?

Yes. Fading is the most common damage we see, and one of the most satisfying to fix. Our artists bring back the detail and color that time washed out, working carefully and by hand. Place an order and see what your photo looked like the day it was printed.

How are my restored photographs delivered?

We restore each of our client’s photos digitally, meaning that you will receive your photo restoration as image files. If you decide to add-on museum-quality prints to your order, we will ship them out within 24 hours after you approve the digital photo restoration.

What if I don't like something about the photo restoration?

Each one of your photo restorations comes with free revisions until you love it. Because we’re confident you will love your photo restorations, we’ll happily give you back your money in the rare case we cannot resolve your issues and repair the photo damages to your satisfaction.

How soon can I get my photo restoration after I order?

Most photos come back in a few days. You’ll pick your speed on the order form. And if you need it tomorrow (a memorial service, a birthday), there’s a 24-hour rush. Tell us the date and we’ll treat it as a promise.

What if I need support with photo scanning?

Not to worry. You can choose to send us your photos in the mail for scanning if you would like. And for instructions on capturing your photos in the best way, our colleague Chris recorded a step-by-step video guide you can watch here.

Do you have a price list I can look at?

The simplest price list is the order form itself: start an order (about two minutes, no commitment) and you’ll see your exact total for your photo before you pay anything. You choose the artist level, and the price never depends on the damage. You can also see all three artist levels and what each one includes on our Why choose us page.

Who owns the rights to my photos?

You do. All rights stay with the owner (you). We get this question a lot from people who want their original pictures and prints kept safe, so we make a point of saying it plainly.

Should I just use an AI photo app?

You can try one free. Many of our customers did first. Here’s what they tell us: the app “restored” the photo, but the face that came back wasn’t quite Mom anymore. AI apps don’t recover your photo’s real details. They borrow face parts from strangers in a database and paste them in. For a photo of someone you love, that’s the one thing that can’t happen.

Our artists only recover what’s really there. That’s why every restoration includes a before-and-after comparison and your approval before it’s final: it has to look like her, or you don’t pay.

I have more questions. Is there a person I could talk to?

If you have any more questions, email our team at support@memorycherish.com, or give us a call at +1 (307) 218-6920. A real person will get back to you and walk you through anything you're unsure about.

That one photo from the wedding day

Almost every family has one. The picture of Mom and Dad cutting the cake in 1968. Your own album from a day that went by too fast. A grandmother in a dress nobody remembers in color. Wedding photos get handled, framed, moved, and loved, and after enough decades they show it.

The good news is that almost all of them can be restored. A real American artist repairs the damage by hand, never with AI, so the dress, the faces, and the small details of the day stay exactly true. The first proof usually arrives in 1 to 3 days.

What we can fix in a wedding photo

Wedding photos tend to collect the same kinds of damage, and our artists work on all of it by hand:

  • Tears and creases, including a photo torn clean in two and taped back together.
  • Fading, where the whole picture has gone pale after years in a frame or an attic. Our faded photo restoration page covers this in depth.
  • Color shift, the orange or reddish cast so common in prints from the 1960s and 1970s.
  • Water stains and marks from a leak, a flood, or damp storage.
  • Spots, scratches, and surface wear from decades of handling.

You can see photos like these before and after in our gallery. One thing worth knowing up front: the price never depends on how damaged the photo is, only on the artist tier you choose.

A 50th anniversary gift they will never forget

A 50th wedding anniversary today means a wedding in the 1970s, and 1970s prints are famous for shifting orange and fading soft. Restoring the original wedding photo is one of the most loved anniversary gifts we make. The couple sees their day again the way it actually looked.

It works just as well for a 40th, a 60th, or your own parents' anniversary while they can enjoy it together. If you're planning ahead for an anniversary party, our photo restoration gift page explains a handy option: you can place the order now and send the photo later, whenever you get your hands on the album.

Seeing a black-and-white wedding in color for the first time

If the wedding was photographed in black and white, our artists can colorize it by hand. This is careful, faithful work. Skin tones, flowers, and fabric are colored so the people still look exactly like themselves, not like a computer's guess.

For many families, seeing the day in color makes it feel close again, like it happened recently instead of long ago. You can learn more on our photo colorization page. And if you're unsure, you can always restore in black and white first and decide about color later.

Rescuing photos from a damaged wedding album

Old albums cause a lot of the trouble. Sticky pages yellow with age, plastic covers cling to the print, and sometimes a photo is glued down or stuck fast.

Here is the safe path: don't peel anything. If a photo is stuck to an album page or behind clinging plastic, leave it right where it is and take a clear picture of it with your phone. That phone photo is enough for our artists to work from, and the original never has to leave the album at all. If a print lifts out easily, fine, but never force one that resists.

If you'd rather send physical photos, mail-in is available too. They go to our photo-scanning lab in New Jersey, tracked both ways, scanned within 24 hours of arrival, and returned to you free.

Simple to start, and nothing to risk

Take a picture of the wedding photo with your phone and upload it, or call us at +1 (307) 218-6920, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm Central, and we'll walk you through it. The first proof usually arrives in 1 to 3 days, and a 24-hour rush is available at checkout if the anniversary is close.

Prices start at $38, set only by the artist tier you choose. Local studios often charge $50–$500. You get free revisions until you love it, a 30-day money-back guarantee in cash, not store credit, and if a photo can't be restored, you don't pay. More than 400,000 families have trusted us with photos like yours, and we're rated 4.96 out of 5 across 2,178+ reviews.
